Postpartum fried rice, pants, prism stickers, plus Peter and the Wolf. This week's post brought to you by the letter P and some persnickety poindexters.
Shoutout to one of our newest subscribers,
! Noah, we’re so excited you’re here. For anyone unfamiliar, Noah is a super talented photographer based in upstate NY and he has a pet rooster named Marcel. His images are atmospheric and filled with intrigue. Fun fact: Noah photographed our very first images for Storq. Fashun! Werk!
To parents and non-parents alike, hopefully being lightly immersed in our world for a moment doesn’t put you off too too much. At the very least, you’ll learn more about procreators and their raison d’être? Kids are not for everyone, after all (see very last link below).
And now, some things.
6 things at least somewhat related to life with kids
Make: If we had to sum up postpartum in just a few words, we might say: snuggles, pain, hunger, exhaustion, joy, delirium. In no particular order. You could probably reduce it further to just hunger and exhaustion. In any case, how we care for mothers who have just given birth is always a lively topic of discussion in our Slack. Long-winded intro to say, food plays an important role in postpartum recovery and every family approaches this period differently. One suggestion: Hetty Liu McKinnon’s mom’s ginger fried rice sounds perfect.
Gift: Delight a child and probably a few adults. Put a prism sticker on your window and let your space be awash in rainbows.
Shop: Cute kid's corduroys. That's today's alliterative wardrobe inspiration.
Read: TW the article we’re linking to discusses miscarriage and pregnancy loss. Topics that affect all of us in some way. New research confirms that mothers continue to carry cells from every pregnancy in their bodies regardless of whether the pregnancy resulted in a live birth. So all your babies are with you always.
Listen: David Bowie narrating Peter and the Wolf is family favorite. A "symphonic narrative for children" that introduces little ones to the individual instruments of the orchestra.
Wear: A pretty and non-drying matte lipstick in good colors is hard to find. Or rather, it used to be.
Something we cannot look away from:
A few more for the road:
The most adorable crochet prodigy.
Chic nursing wear from the Middle Ages.
Getting all steamed up about kids existing.
