I was shopping at the market with my 5 year old, which we honestly don’t do much in person because it takes 100 years and too many bribes, when we found ourselves in the bulk aisle. She stood there transfixed by all the options, when an older woman stopped next to her, opened a bin, took out a candy and ate it. Then she noticed my kid staring at her, and whispering something to me along the lines of “did that lady just steal a candy?!”

The woman motioned for me to step aside and chat, and she said she noticed my child watching her and she wanted me to tell her that it wasn’t ok to steal candy. I had already whispered back that when you reach a certain age you can basically do whatever you want. I reassured her I would talk to my child about rights wrongs, but I didn’t. Because I do think I may want to steal a candy every now and then when I’m in my 80s and I don’t want anyone narc’ing on me :)

See you ’round the grocery store! -Grace

  • Read: Are you feeling a teensy bit concerned about the extreme hotness and making sure your small babes are not overheating in their stroller, carrier, etc.? Herewith some smart tips for keeping babes comfortably cool in the hot weather and how to spot the signs of heat illness.

  • Hack: A couple of cheat codes for The Real Real, from a former employee.

NellieSoo
  • Shop: Super cute handmade kid's clothes with pizzazz.

  • Listen: Initiate a "special time" ritual with your little one that can make them more likely to listen to you. Obviously worth a shot.

  • Eat: Here’s where you get the gooood avocados this season.

Barnyard Felt Playmat
  • Play: A sweet, open-ended playmat for all the toy animals to gather for barnyard gossip.
